Rich in magnesium and poor in nutrients, these serpentine soils create what viticulturists call “devigorating” conditions, naturally stressing the vines and forcing them to produce small, intensely concentrated berries.
Few grape varieties can thrive in serpentine soils, but Petite Sirah has found its perfect match in this challenging terroir. The lean, mineral-rich earth restricts vine growth while intensifying fruit character, producing grapes with exceptional color depth and concentrated flavors.
